Witch Doctor Inferno Guide – The Mana Spammer v2.0

The following guide will give you an overview of the Bear Spammer build for Witch Doctors trying to survive Inferno difficulty in Diablo 3.
Please note that this build is NOT recommended if you’re playing Hardcore.
We would also like to give a big shout-out to the /r/Diablo3 community to helping provide feedback to perfect this guide.
The Concept:
Witch Doctors in Diablo III are powerful spell casters with the ability to control their own minions. While similar to the Necromancer of Diablo II, the Witch Doctor is more of a DPS unit with powerful spells as opposed to the Necromancer predecessor that was able to raise dozens of minions.
The concept for this build is to have insane mana regeneration so you can constantly spam your big spells. This is one of the most fun ways to play the Witch Doctor class!
Witch Doctor Inferno Stat Prioritization Break-Down:
The following Witch Doctor stat prioritization is recommended for Inferno Difficulty. Obviously it’s ideal to have all, but if you can’t, this will help you prioritize what you need.
- Intelligence
- All Resistances
- Armor
- Mana Regeneration
Witch Doctor Inferno Skill Build:
Primary: Poison Darts; Rune: Splinters
Poison Darts with the Splinters gives you moderate DPS at long range. It will allow you to kite and stay safe.
Secondary: Zombie Charger; Rune: Zombie Bears
Zombie Bears is your biggest DPS spell and what you will be spamming most frequently. Do 236% weapon damage in a large AOE. This is the standard DPS spell that most witch doctor’s use @ level 60.
Defensive: Spirit Walk; Rune: Jaunt
Spirit walk is one of the best defensive skills of all classes, giving you up to 3 seconds of invulnerability as well as increased movement speed. It also has a relatively low cooldown which allows you to spam liberally.
Defensive: Horrify; Rune: Frightening Aspect
Horrify can get you out of a sticky situation by causing mobs to run away from you. In addition, you can get a temporary 100% armor boost which goes great when you prioritize armor in your items.
Voodoo: Big Bad Voodoo; Rune: Slam Dance
Big Bad Voodoo works best in a team game, increases your DPS (via attack speed) and movement speed (improving your kiting abilities). Also works to improve your Fetish Army spell.
Voodoo: Fetish Army; Rune: Legion of Daggers
The Fetish Army is a short-lived but powerful army of pets that both tank and do decent DPS to mobs surrounding you. Coupled with the Fetish Sycophants, sometimes you can have up to 8 of these bad boys fighting by your side.
Passive Skill #1: Spirit Vessel
Enhances your Horrify and Spirit Walk spells by reducing their cooldown. Also improves your survivability by blocking fatal damage and bringing your life back to 10% (Can only proc every 90 seconds)
Passive Skill #2: Vision Quest
300% mana regeneration when 4 or more skills are on cooldown. Since you will be spamming your pets as well as spirit walk, you will pretty much permanently have
unlimited mana when using this passive skill.
Passive Skill #3: Pierce the Veil
Drastically improves your damage while increasing your mana costs. When coupled with Vision Quest, the mana cost increase is negligible so it’s well worth it for the DPS boost.
